My mom and dad never really liked pets so me getting one was always out of the picture. They weren’t allergic to dogs they just didn’t like them. I had always wanted a dog and always was asking for one. When I was in 7th grade my parents told me that if I had a GPA over 2.5 they would let me get a dog. The time didn’t come until 8th grade. My parents had told me that having a dog is a big responsibility and it’s like having a new born baby in the house. They had also told me that I must take care of him and they don’t want to have to take care of him. They wanted me to do the potty training and teach it tricks. I got my dog around February of 2014 and it was a pit-bull. It took me a couple of weeks to decide on a name but until then we just called him puppy. His name is kilo. The first time we took kilo to the vet he looked really scared. We went and got all his shots done. The first couple months were really hard because he would whine a lot at night when everybody was asleep. I was always tired when he was a puppy because I would have to wake up early to take him out. Every weekend I would have to spend a couple hours outside picking up his poop. The first trick my dog was taught was to sit. This took him about a week to learn it. The second trick was to shake. This was the hardest to teach him. This took about a month of nonstop training until he finally got it. He wasn’t fully potty trained until he was about 8 months old. He would have little accidents around the house all the time. Kilo honestly is my best friend. When I’m upset or sad he still loves me. When I look over at him he always looks happy, he’s always playing with his toys. He sleeps most of the day tho.
